About

Warehouse software, from the warehouse floor.

Mochip Labs is a New Zealand company building software for the physical side of operations. Its first product is Mochip OS, a barcode-first warehouse management system.

Where it comes from

It started on the warehouse floor.

Mochip Labs was founded by someone who has worked directly in warehousing, inventory and freight and logistics operations.

That work showed, firsthand, where operational systems fall short of the work they are meant to support.

Later came software and system-building experience. Mochip OS is where the two meet: a warehouse system shaped around the workflows as they are actually run.

  1. 01

    The floor

Hands-on work in warehousing, inventory and freight and logistics.

  2. 02

    The gaps

Seeing firsthand where operational systems stopped matching the work.

  3. 03

    The toolkit

Software and system-building experience, applied to the problems seen on the floor.

  4. 04

    Mochip OS

A barcode-first warehouse system built around real warehouse workflows.

How we build

Three rules we keep.

01

Start from the workflow

Screens follow the order the work happens in on the floor: where to go, what to scan, what to confirm.

02

The scan is the record

Barcode-first means the system records what was scanned at a real location, not what someone meant to do.

03

Say what exists

We don't list features, integrations or results that aren't real yet. When something is planned, we say it is planned.

Mochip Labs and Mochip OS

Mochip OS is the beginning.

Mochip Labs is the company; Mochip OS is its first product, and the one we are building now. Warehousing came first because it is where the gap between what a business thinks it has and what it actually has is widest.

Over time we want to build more tools around the physical operation — areas like layout planning and simulation are being explored. None of them is a product yet, and we will not present them as one until it is.
