Mochip OS

Warehouse management built around the scan.

Mochip OS is a barcode-first warehouse management system for growing e-commerce warehouses. Receiving, locations, inventory, picking, packing, dispatch and stocktake run in one system — the one your team works in on the floor.

The Mochip OS picking screen. A large location code, A03-04, tells the picker where to go, with a prompt to scan the location to continue. Below it, the current item and the quantities needed and picked, and a prompt to scan the product barcode. On the right, the order's progress through its six items.

Who it's for

For warehouses that have outgrown spreadsheets, not ones that need an enterprise WMS.

Mochip OS is aimed at small to lower-mid-sized e-commerce operations: past the point where a store platform, a spreadsheet or a basic inventory tool can keep up, but a long way from needing enterprise-WMS complexity.

OrdersRoughly 20–300 a day
SitesUsually 1–2 warehouses
TeamAround 3–20 warehouse users

A likely fit

  • Stock and orders have outgrown Shopify on its own, spreadsheets or a basic inventory tool
  • Barcode-friendly products — apparel and fashion, cosmetics, pet products, homewares and similar
  • You want every movement scanned and recorded against a location

Probably not yet

  • Large multi-site networks that need enterprise-WMS depth
  • Operations looking for anonymous sign-up-and-go software — Mochip OS is set up with you

Workflows

One system, from the dock to dispatch.

The work Mochip OS is built around. Each one runs on scans against real locations, so what the system says is on the shelf follows what actually happened on the floor.

01

Receiving

Capture stock as it enters the warehouse.

02

Barcode scanning

Scan the location. Scan the product. Confirm the action.

03

Locations & storage

Stock assigned to controlled locations, each with its own code.

04

Inventory control

Know what is in stock, where it is and how it moved.

05

Picking

Orders turned into clear, scan-guided warehouse work.

06

Packing & verification

Every item checked against the order before it leaves the bench.

07

Dispatch

Orders moved through to ready to ship, with the record kept.

08

Stocktake

Keep physical stock and system stock aligned.

Pick Run.

Six picks. Scan the location, then the product. It's a short game built on the picking loop — the real screen is just below.

Inside Mochip OS

The screens your team works in.

Real Mochip OS screens, cropped to the part that matters.

Picking

One instruction at a time.

The picker is told where to go and scans the location to confirm they are there, then scans the product. What is needed and what has been picked sit side by side.

Part of the picking screen: a prompt to scan the location to continue, then the current item, XYZ555 Ultra Bolt 5mm, with 1 needed and 0 picked, and a prompt to scan the product barcode.
Packing & verification

Every line checked against the order.

Each item is scanned to verify it. Verified lines are marked, pending lines stay open, and progress shows how much of the order has been checked.

Part of the pack station: four required items with required and picked quantities, the first two marked verified and the other two pending, beside a panel prompting a barcode scan to verify an item, a progress bar at 2 of 4 items verified, and actions to print a packing slip or cancel the order.
Locations

Every location is a record.

Aisle, bay and level, how full it is, the units and product variants it holds, and what kind of location it is — for any code in the building.

A location record for A03-04, Aisle A, Bay 03, Level 04, marked active, showing capacity utilisation, total units, product variants and a location type of pick face.
Inventory

Stock by location, not just a total.

For each product: where it is, how much is on hand, available and reserved in each location, and how full those locations are.

A stock-by-location table for one product, listing locations such as A03-04 and B01-02 with their location type, on hand, available and reserved quantities and utilisation, and a total row.
Dispatch

The day's work, in one view.

Orders waiting, being picked and being packed, and the flow from receiving through to ready to ship.

Part of the dashboard: counters for orders waiting, picking and packing, and a warehouse flow strip running from receiving through picking, packing and ready to ship to completed.
Stocktake & history

What happened, and what to do next.

A location's recent picks, receipts, stock moves and cycle counts, beside the actions to adjust stock, move it, print a label or count it.

A location's recent activity, listing a pick, a receipt, a stock move and a cycle count with a variance of zero, above actions to adjust stock, move stock, print a label and run a cycle count.

Mochip OS is built around barcode scanning. The scanners and printers in your warehouse are checked during discovery and setup rather than promised from a list.

Getting started

Set up with you, not handed over.

Mochip OS is implemented hands-on rather than sold as sign-up-and-go software. This is the shape of it; how long each step takes depends on the warehouse.

  1. 01

    Discovery

How your warehouse works today: products, orders, people and the systems around them.

  2. 02

    Warehouse setup

Your warehouse set up in Mochip OS.

  3. 03

    Locations

Aisles, bays and levels created as locations, each with its own code.

  4. 04

    Users

Accounts for the people who will work in it.

  5. 05

    Product import

Your SKUs and product data brought in.

  6. 06

    Barcodes

Product and location barcodes configured so every scan resolves.

  7. 07

    Workflows

Receiving, picking, packing and dispatch set up to match how your floor runs.

  8. 08

    Testing

Workflows run end to end before anyone depends on them.

  9. 09

    Training

Your team shown the screens they will use.

  10. 10

    Go-live

Mochip OS becomes the system the floor runs on.

  11. 11

    Support

    We stay involved after go-live.

Model

What would this be worth in your building?

Put your own numbers in. Mochip Labs supplies none of them — the improvement percentages are yours to set, and the full arithmetic is printed underneath.

Your operation

$
Add detail: wrong orders, counting time

Until you fill these in the model leaves them out, rather than guessing for you.

%
$

Your assumptions

You set these

These are the only levers that decide whether the model returns a big number or a small one, so we have left them entirely to you. The figures below are example starting points, not our estimates — set them to what you believe a structured, barcode-first workflow is worth in your operation, or set them to zero and the model returns nothing.

%
%
%
How the model works — every step of it
  1. Orders per month = orders per week × 4.33
  2. Handling hours now = orders per month × minutes per order ÷ 60
  3. Handling value = handling hours now × your time-reduction % × labour cost per hour
  4. Wrong orders now = orders per month × your error rate
  5. Wrong-order value = wrong orders now × your error-reduction % × cost per wrong order
  6. Counting value = counting hours × your counting-reduction % × labour cost per hour
  7. Hours returned = handling hours saved + counting hours saved
  8. Per year = (handling + wrong-order + counting value) × 12

Deliberately excluded: software cost, implementation effort, hardware, and any benefit we cannot derive from a number you typed in. A real business case needs all four, and that is a conversation rather than a slider.
